Hi, I’m Phil.

In a former life, I studied maths at Durham, then spent several years as a professional poker player. These days, I work as a software developer with nine years of experience building all sorts of things. I live in Scotland.

Outside of work, I spend a lot of time running, scrambling, camping, and hiking in the hills. I also play chess and code for fun.

In 2022, I took an extended break from work and hiked across the Pyrenees via the HRP. I completed the munros in 2023.

I've always been interested in maps and always pull an all-nighter on election nights, which led me to build the interactive UK election maps page as my first project while teaching myself to code.
