Hi, I’m Phil.

In a former life, I studied maths at Durham, then spent several years as a professional poker player. These days, I work as a software developer with nine years of experience building all sorts of things. I live in Scotland.

Outside of work, I spend a lot of time running, scrambling, camping, and hiking in the hills. I also play chess and code for fun.

In 2022, I took an extended break from work and hiked across the Pyrenees via the HRP. I completed the munros in 2023.

I've always been interested in maps and election night coverage, which led me to build the interactive UK election maps page as my first project while teaching myself to code.
